Downloading & Installing Acrobat Reader
1. Visit Adobe's website by clicking on this link or on the red square Acrobat Reader image. Here is what you'll see. Select your operating system (Windows if you use a regular PC, or Mac if you use a Macintosh computer).
2. There are several versions of PC and Macintosh operating systems, so select
your version.
• In this example, the version is Windows XP, so enter that in step 2 of that Acrobat Reader download screen - in this case, like the first image above shows ...
• Here's how on a Macintosh: Well, this writer doesn't have a Mac, so we'll have to provide those instructions later. 3. Continue on ... Go back to the browser showing the Adobe website (the first image above) and click the yellow CONTINUE buttton. The window will expand so you can confirm your choices; uncheck "also download: Adobe Photoshop Album Start Edition" (recommended); and click the yellow DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button. You will be taken to a second screen where, once again, Adobe is trying to get you to add something you really don't need. Uncheck the "free Google toolbar" checkbox, so the yellow button reads only DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER.

Whatever method is used, note that the file is larger than 23 MB and - depending on the speed of your Internet connection - may take up to 30 minutes to download. 4. Once you have downloaded the program onto your computer, close your web browser. Locate and open the folder you downloaded Acrobat Reader into and double-click on the file. This will begin the set-up process, which will guide you through the rest of the installation. 5. Miscellaneous - Acrobat Reader should install inself as a plug-in (if you're using Netscape or an ActiveX control, assuming your web browser is Internet Explorer). The program also will install itself as a stand-alone application so you don't have to open your browser to view .pdf files ... just double-clicking on any .pdf file already on your computer will automatically launch Acrobat Reader ... and if you click on any .pdf file while in your browser, Acrobat Reader should launch automatically and present the file for viewing.
