July 16, 2007 - This exciting new “Silk Road Club” is designed for fabric lovers, especially those who adore silk dupioni — extremely popular with clothing manufacturers, whole-cloth quilters, art quilters, and creative clothing constructors. It lends itself beautifully to home decorating and crafting. Although it should be hand washed or dry cleaned, it can be carefully machine washed (it will change texture and lose some sheen). Becoming a member of the Silk Road Club is simple. Read the “rules” and fill out an application. There is no membership fee! Your fabric will be sent to you with NO SHIPPING or HANDLING CHARGES! With each shipment, you will be provided with a color name, description, and reorder number. We would recommend you use this list to tag each piece of fabric. Store with the raw edges folded to the inside because silk dupioni will tend to ravel more than most fabrics.
Your first shipment will be the largest, containing 21 pieces of fabric. Several payment options will be available for your beginning order. At the beginning of 2008, we will start our seasonal shipments, each containing 2 to 3 new colors. You will continue to receive to a shipment once a season. Expect 4 to 5 shipments a year.
If you are a quilter, you might want to get ½-yard cuts as opposed to the fat quarter or ¼-yard cut. If you are a garment constructor, we recommend 1-yard cuts. Get larger cuts of the colors you love. If you LOVE certain colors families, we would be happy to take “EXTRA CUT REQUESTS.” If you love dark blues and reds, request that we send you more of those colors!
Hurry! We have a limited amount of fabric available (less than 10 yards of each color), so you will want to sign up right away. Fill out the application and mail or fax it to us. As soon as we get your application, you first order will be in the mail and on its way.
We hope you will love and collect this wonderful fabric for a very long time! The success of the this program will rely on its interested members. Our goal is to provide to you up to 60 to 80 different colors of silk. So join the club and take a walk down the Silk Road with Beth’s Creative Stitchery!
